New website

Anyone who hit the “project web site” button on the sourceforge page or tried to access http://st-m.sourceforge.net/ will have noticed that he came on a different web page. I suggest you get used to it since that’s the new Startup Manager website. It is accessible through http://startupmanager.org/ and is hosted by 1 & 1 Internet inc.

Our goal with this new website was to provide a fresh and modern looking design to anyone who is interested. The website uses WordPress as backend and is designed by George French (aka Deimnos).
As of today the new website replaces the old one, but it is not yet completely finished. The download page still needs some final touches and the wiki section isn’t implemented yet.

Enjoy the new website and the 2.4.1 Startup Manager release. And as always; all comments are appreciated.

New website: The progress

As announced, we are currently working at a new website for the Startup Manager project. I’d like to thank Deimnos, he’s the guy working at the website. And as if that was not enough, he also donated webspace and the domain name http://startupmanager.org/ . Thank you very much!

So far we already have done quite a bit of work and we are at a point we can already show you the website (however it’s not yet at a point where we can release it and replace the old website). If you want to, you can already visit it on the new domain name http://startupmanager.org/ .
Just like the old website, we’ll also be using the WordPress CMS as backend now. With the difference that now the WordPress CMS is integrated into the website instead of the website into WordPress, which is the case with the old website.
If you visit the new website, you’ll note that the wiki page is still under development and that the news page’s css isn’t fully written yet (WordPress has way too many css classes ). And if you happen to visit the website using M$ Internet Explorer, you’ll notice the layout is messed up (the content boxes are not displayed correctly). We’ll fix this later, first we’ll implement the entire css, then we’ll make it IE compatible.

That’s it for now, I or Deimnos will write another news post when the website reaches the point where we’ll be able to throw it online. And again; all comments are appreciated!

New website: the design

As Startup Manager is becoming more and more grown up, I wanted to see that reflected in the project website. Currently the website is a custom theme used with the WordPress content management system and it looks a lot like a blog instead of a project website. Therefore I posted a “help wanted” message asking for someone who wanted to update the website.

Well, I recieved some reactions on this post and discussed a bit about the website design I’d like. Right now deimnos is a member of the project and is working at the website. And we hope to have it online soon.

The project is becoming more and more grown up and I would like to see this reflected in the project’s website.
Currently the website is nothing more then a homebrewn design used as a theme for the wordpress content management system. I would like the website to have its own system and a design that fits for a software project rather than a weblog like it is now.

After more then one year we finally found some time to create the project website.

Not all pages are finished yet, but soon this website will be fully operational.

The design is created by Peter Naudus and adapted to fit WordPress by Kris Van den Bergh.
